Artist Statement:
Duality and paradox are my muses. I'll dabble with visuals that are vivid, cheerful, and childlike only to destroy them with darkness and distress. I can make a painting that is painfully realistic, or computer graphics that are simplified and stylized—or an illustration that somehow combines both. Nothing satisfies my creative expression more than the juxtaposition of opposites.
So I have an exhibit in May...posted Mar 29th 2008, 2:53AM
It's my senior capstone exhibit. I want to make a beautiful digital print. Apparently that isn't good enough for my instructor, so I had the idea of making it all 3D with the use of foamboard and some exacto-blades and glue (cut and paste for reals 8D ), but I'm probably just going to end up with a straight-out print anyway. I don't really care either way. A pop-out would be more WOW--BAM--IMPRESSIVE, but a normal print is what I wanted to do in the first place. So. We'll see how that goes.
I'm also making a comic for my exhibit. The print is based on the comic, actually. I'm really excited for both, except that I spent almost the whole week doing nothing on them (which was spring break by the way) so I have to hustle this weekend. But I think I can achieve my desired goals.
I've only ever missed a deadline once or twice, and they were personal ones, so I have no doubt that they'll be done in time--the part that worries me is...this isn't exactly something I want to rush. It's probably the last project I want to rush to finish. x_x Slow baby steps, Roku...realistic goals...yeah.
